San Pietro al Tanagro is a very old town in the Province of Salerno that grew around the Church of San Pietro and the 17th-century Church of Santa Maria del Piano, with an attached Franciscan Friars Minor monastery.
In addition to the picturesque historic centre, do not miss to visit:
- the Parish Church, dedicated to St. Peter and built in XIX century on the ruins of preexistent a religious building;
- the Church of Santissimo Crocifisso, built at the end of XIX century, preserves an important wooden crucifix;
- the Church of San Vito, built in 1850;
- the Secchio grotto, a natural cavity rich in tunnels and small lakes.
