Sassetta
Description
Hilly town in the province of Livorno, the origins of Sassetta goes back to the XII century, when the Pannocchia family built here a castle. The Pannocchia's domination lasted up to the beginning of the XV-th century, when due to the collapse of the Republic of Pisa operated by the Florentines, all the Pisan domains became properties of the Republic of Florence.
We suggest to visit the small church of Sant’Andrea, with important Renaissance works of art, and Palazzo Ramirez de Montalvo, built during the XVI century, when the Ramirez de Montalvo family became lord of the town.
