Taibon Agordino

Description

According to the most accepted theory, the town's name derives from the Latin "Tabullus. Municipality in the province of Belluno, situtated between the Dolomiti at the entrance of the Valle di San Lucano, the territories of Taibon Agordino are located on the border with Trentino Alto Adige, and is crossed by the rivers Cordevole, the main tributary of the Piave, and the Tegnàs . The area is particularly interesting from a naturalistic point of view. Originally devoted mainly to agriculture, forestry activities and exploitation of mines, today the local income has evolved thanks to the presence of local industries and crafts. It is also a mountain resort with a strong vocation for tourism throughout the year: from here depart several trails paths in direct contact with the surrounding environment between mountains and numerous species of trees and flowers that grow spontaneously.
The recent discovery of the important findings in the Peden area attest the presence of settlements since ancient times. In year 923, the territories were granted in fief by the Emperor Berengar to the Bishop of Belluno. In the beginning of the XV century the town submitted the domain of the Serenissima Republic of Venice and later shared the same historical events of the nearby Belluno.
