Capital town of the Giudicarie area, Tione, in the province of Trento, is located in the point of intersecation of the Chiesen Rendena and Giudicarie Valleys, not too far from the Adamello-Brenta Dolomites Natural Park and the Lake Garda. It lies at the foot of Mount Gaggio and is crossed by sacra and Arnò rivers. Ancient gallic settlement, in origin, during the Middle Age Tione was one of the "Seven parish Churches of the Giudicarie area", with administrative autonomy from the Prince-Bishop of Trento.
Attractions:
- the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and San Giovanni Battista, already mentioned in 1185, although it was renovated several times during the following centuries; inside it is possible to admire a beautiful XVI century altarpiece by carlo Bononi, paintings and mirable friezes.
The small Church of San Vigilio, whose bell tower stands out among the lush vegetation, worth a visit.
