Zone

Description

Town of the province of Brescia, situated at the feet of the slopes of Monte Guglielmo (1949 meters). Zone is a important resort of the Sebina region, from where it is possible to admire splendid views over the Lake Iseo. The small borgo is known especially for its "fate di pietra" ("Fairies stone"), imposing earth pyramids that boast few other examples worldwide, caused by the erosive water on the morainic terrain along the strong slope downhill.
Between the most valuable buildings and monuments, worth of mention: the Parish of San Giovanni Battista, built in the XVI century and expanded in subsequent century, inside it preserves valuable sculptures of the artist Fantoni and frescoes of Francesco Paglia of Brescia; the XII century Church of San Giorgio, built at the entrance of Regional Park of the Pyramides; the rural Church of Saints Ippolito and Cassiano, founded initially as hospitalization for wayfarers and pilgrims and finally the Monument entitled to the Redeemer situated on the summit of Mount Guglielmo .
