Friuli's Hinterland

Description

The forests, amongst the large preserved in the whole of Europe, and the numerous parks and nature reserves, with their natural inhabitants like the chamois, the ibex and the birds of prey - the last remaining griffon vultures live in these mountains. Alpine pastures, protected areas, small lakes at high altitudes, rocky slopes and wild forests are only a few of the different aspects with which nature has endowed these mountains in Friuli.
All the lovers of sports and outdoor activities will be able to live unforgettable experiences without any limits such as age or sports aptitude and skills: climbing, mountaineering, flying off the mountain peaks and down the slopes on gliders and hang-gliders and then also golfing and fishing, canoeing and windsurfing along torrents and on lakes that are as pure as crystals; a concentration of activities in a scenario that even mountain-bikers and lovers of trekking on foot and on horseback, will definitely consider a paradise.
At high altitudes, the characteristic barns and enchanting Alpine huts are all connected one to the other by trekking routes with differing degrees of difficulty, immersed in the green landscape of the Alps and which represent a junction-link with the neighbouring region of Carinthia.
But the mountains in Friuli also offer visitors a view overlooking many characteristic villages surrounded by lush green pastures, which are gathered around small churches with their stern elegance and enlivened by the cheerful atmosphere of the numerous festivals dedicated to tradition and folklore.
