To get to the old Trattoria Da Gemma, you need to enter the main square of Amalfi, where you will find the superb Duomo, from the high street that leads upwards, you turn down a narrow alley on the left and you will arrive here.
The Trattoria is elegant with simple furniture, ceramic paved floors and a terrace which faces over the heart of the town, these are some of the elements that characterize the place, of which many poets have praised its greatness since 1872, and faithful to the simplicity of the Trattoria's humble origins its seafood dishes and regional cooking recipes have stayed unchanged throughout time. In its cosy environment the Trattoria Da Gemma seats 60 people, a really special place for those who are willing to explore and discover every little corner of the Divine Coast and Amalfi itself, and yet wanting a wonderful tasteful memory.
As always, the restaurant here constantly aims for the best base quality ingredients.
Among these an important part is the fresh daily fish, which in our main hall can always be seen on display and cooked at will, according to the old cooking traditions. Our specialities are the typical dishes of the Mediterranean culture like: Zuppa di pesce (fish soup), I paccheri alla Genovese (type of pasta in Genovese style sauce), the delicate Fritture (Fried fish), the Carpaccio di tonno (thinly sliced raw tuna) and the Melanzane al cioccolato (eggplants served with chocolate), sweet with their unmistakable taste, of which its origins are lost back in time in the myth of the Divine Coast. The wine cellar has many regional and national varieties. Of the many wines, a special mention must go to the Giardino di Klingsor Ravello Costa d'Amalfi, the white and red, quality labelled D.O.C., much appreciated for their fine balanced and harmonious bouquets.
