Baronissi is set in the very heart of the Irno Valley, inhabited since the antiquity by the Osci, Samnites, Lucans, Greeks and Etruscans, as many archaeological remains, found in the area, testified.
After the earthquake in 1980, Baronissi was characterized by a significant population and housing growth.
The Church of SS. Salvatore, set on a hill in the hamlet of Saragnano, Villa farina and the remains of a Roman Villa, also known with the name of "catacombe", worth a visit.
