Pellio Intelvi

Description

Town in the province of Como, situated on a plateau of Intelvi Valley, at short distance from the famous ski resort of Pian delle Noci, Pellio Intelvi is also the home of some interesting archaeological finds of pre-Roman age. The old town has a typical picturesque medieval aspect, with XVII century palaces with beautiful stone portals.
Among the main historical and artistic attractions of the town, not to miss: the ancient Church of Santa Maria, with precious frescoes and baroque furniture; the Parish Church of San Michele, built in 1610, which contains art works of local sculptor Ercole Ferrara, a Tabernacle of the XVI century and various paintings of local artists, and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Caravaggio, originally dedicated to St. George, located at an ancient fortress, and displays masterpieces from various periods, between which excel Rococò frescoes by Pietro Molciani.
