Ogliastro is a nice town standing on the Cilento coast in the Province of Salerno.
Its name derives from the massive presence of centuries-old olive groves, which produce the excellent local oil.
It is the ideal place for a seaside holiday, yet also offers plenty of architectural sights such as, the Church of Saint Nazarius in the village of Finocchito, the Parish Church of St. Croce, St. Leonard's Convent and noble palazzos (Cirota and De Stefano).
Cilento typical gastronomic specialties are: the "caciocavallo podolico" cheese, the "cacioricotta" cheese, the excellent extra-virgin olive oil, the buffalo mozzarella DOP, the Cilento white fig, local salami and DOC wines.
