Castel Volturno, whose name derives from the castle and the Volturno river, is characterized by 25Km of beaches and 10Km of pine groves.
The castle was built using an arch of an ancient Roman bridge, realized by the Emperor Domitiano in 95 AD.
Historic documents confirm the existence of a castrum, a tower, a castle and a fortified district at the mouth of the Volturno River since the oldest of times, however we don't know the changes and transformations made to them due to centuries of bad weather, earthquakes, wars and mankind.
It is also noted for the production of buffalo mozzarella.
