Morcone, small village in the province of Benevento, is located at the foot of Mucre Mount. Perched on a cliff, its name derives from Latin (Murco-nis: sharp tip).
The remains of an ancient tower and the Medieval historic centre are still visible.
The village is replete with scenic stairways, winding streets and sudden open spaces, towering vaults and arches, mysterious shade and light exploding from the valleys. Morcone should be explored as if it were a river, travelling up and down its arms, its high points and cliffs.
